FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 18, 2017
What is sure to be a welcome relief to many residents, the City of West Kelowna is pleased to announce that repairs are complete and Gellatly Road is now fully open.
On May 5, the City was forced to close Gellatly Road from the intersection of Gellatly and Witt Roads to the intersection with Boucherie Road after spring flooding of nearby Smith Creek eroded the slope adjacent to the road.
Construction is now complete on the section of road just north of a section that was repaired in 2014 after spring flooding of Smith Creek eroded the slope on the lower section of this road.
The City thanks the residents of Witt and Carrall Roads for their patience as they experienced increase traffic volumes on the detour route while Gellatly Road was closed.
Construction to repair the flood-impacted Gellatly Walkway, adjacent to Gellatly Road on the waterfront, is expected to be complete at the end of August. Motorists can expect single-lane alternating traffic during construction.
