$49 Million Megaproject Announced



The City of West Kelowna expresses its tremendous gratitude to the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia for committing $41 million under the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund for the construction of the new $49 million Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant.

Funding under the CWWF advances the construction of this project by more than five years. When completed it will provide safe, clean water to more than 18,000 residents, 300 businesses, seven schools, two arenas and an extended seniors care facility.

2017 Infrastructure Projects

The City of West Kelowna is about to embark on its most ambitious infrastructure improvement schedule to date. Projects totalling more than $65 million will either begin or wrap up construction in 2017. Scheduled projects include (list is subject to change):

  • Rose Valley Water Treatment Plant - $49 million
    • With $41 million from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia through the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund
  • Horizon Village Lift Station - $1.1 million
    • With $908,030 from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia via the the Small Communities Fund
  • East Boundary Lift Station - $781,250
    • With $648,437 from the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia under the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund
  • Boucherie Road Wine Trail Phase 2 - $4.95 million
    • Includes roundabout at Hudson/Boucherie ($350,000)
  • East Boucherie Road water main replacement - $1.25 million
  • Shannon Lake Road Bridge replacement - $1.1 million
  • Road Rehabilitation Program - $1 million
  • Bridge Maintenance Program - $666,000
  • Westbank water storage upgrades - $630,000
  • Pedestrian Infrastructure Improvement Program - $600,000
  • Computer systems disaster recovery/redundancy  - $400,000
  • Sports field lighting - $371,000
  • Fire rescue squad truck - $300,000
  • Willow Park bank stabilisation - $300,000
  • Rosealee Lane drainage improvements - $250,000
  • Anders Park Tennis Court lighting - $220,000
  • Walkway repairs - $200,000
  • Back-up generator for pump stations - $175,000
  • Green Bay drainage improvements - $150,000
  • Klein Road drainage improvements - $150,000
  • Artificial turf field/soccer dome, planning/design - $137,000
  • Sport court for Shannon Lake Tennis Court - $125,000
  • Pettman Road booster station - $115,000
  • Recreational trails upgrades - $100,000
