The board is made up of five members who serve a three-year term, from 2015 to 2017 inclusive, 2017 to 2019 inclusive, and so on.
The Board of Variance deals with applications for minor variances in situations where compliance with the Zoning Bylaw regarding siting, dimensions or size of a building or structure, siting of a manufactured home, etc. would cause a person undue hardship.
The board may also consider applications for additions and structural alterations to “non-conforming” buildings.
The Board of Variance is a quasi-judicial body independent from Council.
