Official Community Plan

Bylaw No. 0100

The City of West Kelowna's Official Community Plan (OCP) was adopted on July 26, 2011 after an extensive community input process, which included feedback from residents, stakeholders and Mayor and Council.

The City of West Kelowna would like to thank everyone who provided comments, concerns and support toward the creation of this comprehensive plan:

OCP Process

Creating the right community vision for the City of West Kelowna included:

  • Close consultation with the public, stakeholders and Council spanning a 30 month period
  • Careful review of growth and development best practices, and
  • Incorporation of new directions and legislative requirements in key areas like Climate Action
Following the two year engagement and drafting process, the municipality released the first draft of the OCP for public and stakeholder feedback in January 2011 and a second draft of the OCP in May 2011. The OCP drafts incorporated extensive feedback that had been gathered through a public and stakeholder engagement process, as well as formal referral comments.

Proposed OCP Bylaw 2011 No. 0100 was presented to Council and received first reading on May 31, 2011. A public hearing was held June 21, 2011 and the bylaw was given second and third readings, and adopted July 26, 2011.
