Objectives

Administrative and Protective Services keeps Mayor and Council connected to their constituents and informs the community about the city's programs, projects, and services.

The division also acts as a liaison between the municipality and its fire and rescue and policing services.

Corporate Communications

The Communications Department serves as an information conduit between Council and the public, articulating the Strategic Priorities and Operational Plan and programs, projects and services that are rolled out to meet the plan's goals and objectives each year.

The Communications Department's responsibilities include:

  • Annual Report
  • Event planning
  • Grant applications and reporting
  • Media and public inquiries
  • Newsletters
  • News releases (including public notices, public service announcements and media advisories)
Fire and Rescue

West Kelowna Fire and Rescue is comprised of a chief, three assistant chiefs, 32 full time firefighters, an inspector, a fire prevention officer, a public educator and one and a half administrative support staff positions. To learn more please visit:

Legislative Services

The Legislative Services Department:

  • Administers meetings and official functions of Council and committees
  • Facilitates Freedom of Information requests
  • Administers oaths, affirmations, affidavits and declarations on the municipality's behalf
  • Conducts elections of Mayor and Council and any referenda or opinion polls for the City of West Kelowna
    • The next election is October 20, 2018.
RCMP

West Kelowna RCMP's commander oversees 20 municipal officers and six civilian employees. The detachment also works with volunteers who provide a number of volunteer community policing services. To learn more about policing in West Kelowna, please visit:
